Varane wants to see Mbappe alongside history-maker Ronaldo

Raphael Varane has lauded history-maker Cristiano Ronaldo and would love to see Kylian Mbappe playing alongside him at Real Madrid.

Ronaldo has enjoyed yet another stellar campaign, scoring 25 top-flight goals to help Madrid to their first LaLiga title since 2012, while surpassing 100 Champions League strikes en route to the final against Juventus.

While Ronaldo s legend is well established, another player has emerged on the world stage this year in the shape of Monaco s Mbappe, who is attracting interest from Europe s biggest clubs – including Varane s Madrid.

Barcelona confirm Aleix Vidal set for €10.5m Sevilla return

Sevilla have struck a deal with Barcelona to bring right-back Aleix Vidal back to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan for an initial fee of €8.5million, potentially rising to €10.5m.

Vidal signed for Barca in 2015 after just a single albeit impressive season with Sevilla, who were reported to have collected €15m for him.

Barca brought Vidal in as competition at right-back for Dani Alves, but due to a registration ban he was unable to play until the second half of 2015-16.

A hamstring injury disrupted the end of his season, but there were general suggestions Barca were ready already to sell Vidal ahead of the 2016-17 campaign.

Maguire ´quite positive´ about Europa League final chances, claims Solskjaer

Harry Maguire is feeling optimistic about his chances of being fit for the Europa League final, according to Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Maguire suffered ankle ligament damage in an awkward collision with Anwar El Ghazi during the 3-1 win over Aston Villa on May 9 and subsequently had to be withdrawn.

It was an unusual situation for United and Maguire to find themselves in, as the centre-back had played in every minute of 71 consecutive league games for the Red Devils – and in his final five for Leicester City before moving two years ago – until that injury.

In fact, Maguire has played for 9,615 minutes in all competitions since the start of 2019-20. Prior to the defeat to Liverpool on Thursday, that was almost 1,000 more than any other pl…

Lichtsteiner rues silly goals

Stephan Lichtsteiner was disappointed by Juventus defensive display in Thursday s defeat to Benfica in the UEFA Europa League.

Juve must overturn a one-goal deficit if they are to reach the final after suffering a 2-1 loss at the hands of Benfica in the opening leg of their semi-final at the Estadio da Luz.

A priceless away goal from Carlos Tevez his first goal in Europe since 2009 was enough to leave the tie evenly poised heading to Juventus Stadium.

However, the Serie A champions were poor defensively by their own lofty standards, shipping two goals in a match for only the second time in 18 fixtures.
